The Absolute Power A Book Has On Business Success

The Absolute Power A Book Has On Business Success

Times have changed and the business world is full with more competition then ever before. Business men and professionals are looking for better ways to stand out and represent their skills and qualifications. According to thousands of the most successful professionals around the world: The business card is a thing of the past.

The power of a book cover can get you everything you need. More sales, more leads more publicity. A book cover is the suit you put on when you go out. They won’t buy from you in a t-shirt and flip-flops.

A book is the “best business card you will ever have.”

A book delivers instant credibility. Anyone who knows a lot about something can write a book. Regardless of how obscure your business or knowledge base is, you can make a book out of it.

Types of people who should write books:the new rules of book publishing

Sales people
Subject matter experts

You devalue what you know a lot about. Most convince themselves that no one wants a book on their subject, but if you’re draining energy into blog posts or podcasts, books are actually easier.

Call to Action

The book should always end with a call to action if you’re a marketer. End it by offering a bonus chapter on your website or encouraging someone to schedule an appointment. Employ classic elements of content marketing by moving your reader from one piece of content to another piece of content.

Subject matter expert gets so good at publishing that she sells her collection agency and became a full-time writer.

Most authors won’t even sell 500 copies of their [print] book in the lifetime of the book.

Putting information into book form shows that someone took the “extra effort”. Success comes from people who do things not from people who sit around waiting for other people to do things.

What’s Stopping You?

Only what you don’t know is stopping you. If you can’t answer questions to your customers about the biggest problems they face, you’re in the wrong business.

The sweet spot for how-to books is 20,000 – 25,000 words, according to Kukral.

Traditional Publishing

With the traditional route, you don’t own your book. Self-publishing gives you the power to change the title, the cover, the format. The book consumption as it exists today, leaves the paper versus digital argument a moot point.

Books are going the way of blogs. Before blogs the media publishers were the gatekeepers of information much like the traditional publishing world was for literature. Now those boundaries are starting to disappear.

For every 100 print books Amazon sells, 180 ebooks are sold.

“No one remembers the middle. [Your Book] has to be something people want to pay attention to.”
