About PublishingEDU

PublishingEDU is a resource for authors interested in writing, publishing, marketing and translating books. It brings together an archive of publishing articles and new practical guides to preparing an international edition.

A publishing archive with its history intact

The original archive covers 2012–2014, a period of rapid change in ebooks and self-publishing. It includes industry news, commentary, author stories and excerpts linking to their original sources. The original authors and sources retain credit for their work.

Archive articles are identified on the page and retain their original dates and available author credits. An old article's prices, offers and platform instructions describe its time of publication. New editorial additions appear separately from the archived text so readers can distinguish the two.

Browse the book publishing, book marketing and ebook sections to explore that history.

PublishingEDU Editors

PublishingEDU Editors is the site's editorial byline for its new guides. These articles explain the decisions an author needs to make: which book to translate, how to budget for the work, when to involve a human editor, and how to prepare the finished edition for publication.

Our editorial approach

New guides link to sources for platform requirements and product details. When discussing changing information such as prices, they state when it was checked. Cost examples are identified as examples; they are not quotations for an individual manuscript. Comparisons explain tradeoffs and do not claim independent product testing unless that testing is described.

Start with the book translation cost guide or our comparison of AI and human book translation. A translation budget should account for review, editing and publication as well as the initial translation.

Ownership and product mentions

PublishingEDU and Skillsfor.ai share ownership. Skillsfor.ai is a book translation service mentioned in some of our guides. Those guides disclose the relationship, and promotional links are marked as sponsored. Readers should consider that relationship when evaluating our product suggestions.
